In my college history class, the professor told us the sign of a democracy is that politics is not a dangerous profession. November notifies our need to keep it safe, lest we get mob rule, terror rule, money rule. Plenty of bad actors will help in these.
Change is rapid, more than we realise when living through it. Only looking back can you recognise the constant flow. Take inflation. 4% means 4% Per Year...4% on top of 4% the year before. Exponential costs. Similarly, exponential loss when civility and human rights erode, item by item.
The city surrounds while your adventure takes place within a changing city. The world surrounds your adventures as it changes, by you, through you, and including you.
Do not add to the store of regrets. You have a limited time to live in friendship, to take into account extenuating circumstances, to assign responsibility where it rests. To learn when you are collateral damage, not a cause. To face the guilt of being powerless and the need of witnessing to power. “The Kingdom of God is not coming with things that can be observed.” It is among us.
